7 Verses For College Students

2 copy

The spring semester is right around the corner. I am in my second year of graduate school, so I have quite a lot of experience when it comes to beginning new semester — 6 years of experience, to be accurate.

I understand how stressful and intimidating the beginning of the semester can be. Yes, you are excited to begin a new chapter in your life and are prepared to embrace the wonderful experiences that will come your way this semester. However, you also consider the quizzes, exams, papers, projects, and stress that can stem from yet another semester as a college student.

I want you to have a wonder{full} semester, so I have prepared seven Bible verses and a prayer to help you begin this semester on the right foot!

1. Philippians 4:6-7

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

2. Psalm 55:22

“Cast your cares on the Lord and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous be shaken.”

3. John 16:33

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

4. Isaiah 40:31

“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”

5. Proverbs 3:5-6

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”

6. Jeremiah 29:11

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

7. Matthew 6:34

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of it’s own.”

Here is a prayer to keep with you as you face highs and lows throughout the course of this semester:

“Dear Heavenly Father,

I am going to face situations and dilemmas. I am going to experience stress and various obstacles. I may feel confused and lost. But Lord, will you help me? Will you stretch out your wings and protect me? Show me how to be calm. Show me how to stay balanced. Teach me your ways, Lord. I trust in You. I trust that You have prepared a path for me. I ask that You would provide me with the strength and guidance needed for my life this semester. Let my mind and heart be open. Give me the courage to do the right thing. All of this I pray in Your name, Lord. Amen.”
